The Oyster Gardener offers an exciting opportunity to engage students to learn about nature-based climate solutions, marine ecosystem restoration, community stewardship, and the importance of caring for, and connecting with, where our water comes from.

Curriculum Resources (coming soon)

We are working with the curriculum experts at the Noosa Environmental Education Hub to map the film’s messages to the Australian curriculum and create free educational materials for early education, primary, and secondary year levels.

The Oyster Gardener educational resources have been designed to inspire young people to learn about the health and history of their local waterways and to feel empowered in finding and connecting with local projects and organisations that steward and manage the water sources. The lessons are spread across different subjects of learning including Art and Science, with more subjects being announced soon. Each lesson will be supported by a screening of the short film The Oyster Gardener which serves as a study and entry point into the learning of the themes within the film.

Teacher Preview Q&A Screenings (coming in March)

To celebrate the launch of The Oyster Gardener curriculum materials, we will be hosting a series of special online Q&A screenings for teachers and educators. The Q&A's will feature the film team, curriculum writers, and some of the cast from the film. We'll be sharing opportunities and ideas for teachers, as well as a sneak peak of the lessons before they launch.

Access the film to show to your class

If your school or institution has a ClickView subscription, you can access The Oyster Gardener on the ClickView platform. If you do not have access to ClickView, you can purchase an educational licence to screen the film to your class and request a streaming link to share with your students. Please complete the Host a Screening form on our website and our team will be in touch to assist you.

School Action Toolkit (coming soon)

Educators will also be able to download their free copy of The Oyster Gardener | School Action Toolkit - a comprehensive resource that covers key information about the film as well as being loaded with tips to guide you through planning a successful screening. Included is a bonus Action Planning Guide which walks through a ‘whole school approach’ process for defining and planning sustainability initiatives.

A global survey showed that 70% of young people are eco-anxious. This growing epidemic of eco-anxiety amongst young people is taking a heavy toll on their mental wellbeing and their ability to see a positive future.

Educators have a unique opportunity to equip young people with the tools to take action.
