George is a Guardian columnist and author of many books including Regenesis: Feeding the World without Devouring the Planet, published in 2022, and Feral: Searching for Enchantment on the Frontiers of Rewilding.
What is George doing to regenerate the planet?
George's TED Talk on rewilding revealed how the reintroduction of wolves to the US' Yellowstone National Park restored the park’s natural balance and inspired the making of several short films in partnership with Sustainable Human.
In 2019, he launched the Natural Climate Solutions campaign, calling for the mass restoration of living systems, partly to draw down carbon from the atmosphere on a vast scale.
His 2020 film Apocalypse Cow, directed by Peter Gauvain, was broadcast by Channel 4 and generated a lively debate about the link between the climate crisis and how we feed ourselves. Following this, in 2021 he presented the world’s first live investigative documentary, Rivercide, directed by Franny Armstrong, which explored the pollution of Britain’s rivers.
