With Scandinavia leading the world on electric ferries and the NSW Government recently pledging to convert its 8,000 diesel buses to electric by 2030, we are on the way to lighter-touch long distance travelling. But we need to travel faster: driving politicians to instigate and support long distance travel solutions that result in fewer emissions and cleaner, low-carbon fleets. Electric buses, trams and ferries are a reality right now, with driverless electric cars to move us in the future.
There are a number of ways in which you can use your voice to push the need for clean transport to state and federal governments including supporting organisations and campaigns that are focused on that mission.
Australia
Contact your local MP
Contacting your MP to let them know how important the switch to electrification of our transport systems is is one of the most effective ways of making positive change. Before you make contact, make sure you’ve done some research on their position on climate change and energy policy.
